Some Thoughts on Election 2008

i haven't posted in a long while, and i'll try and update soon (says the girl who says "i'll try to update soon" and never does), but i thought i'd share some links to some blog entries with some good thoughts about the way Christ followers should view this election.

On submitting to the leadership God has ordained over us

From an African American perspective

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1Timothy 2:1-4)

Hmm... those are some interesting reads for sure.

What interests me most on those Christian blogs is that people comment on how upset they are that people voted a certain way, but then they say "oh well... at least they voted." It got me thinking, is voting in itself really a virtue? I don't actually think it is, hmm... *ponder*

Interesting thought. i agree, i don't think voting is a virtue, but rather just a way to express support or non-support of a certain issue. i don't know, i don't read the comments on blog entries like this because i know they'll just frustrate me. i just liked the content and the reminder to submit to our authorities regardless of how anyone voted, and i thought Eric Redmond had an interesting take as an African American who is conflicted because of Obama's stand on many social issues.
